The Group conducts safety and health education training for new employees, on-the-job safety and health education training for special operations supervisors, fire safety seminars and practical training, and on-the-job labor safety and health training for general employees. Additionally, we plan and arrange professional training courses according to specific job functions to enhance employees’ professional knowledge. In 2023, for the first time, a human rights advocacy program was conducted for employees of VPIC1 in Vietnam, totaling 4,324 hours, with a total of 4,720 new and existing colleagues (4,720 individuals) completing the training. Going forward, we will continue to focus on human rights protection issues, promote relevant education and training, and raise awareness of human rights protection to reduce risks for relevant violations.
On June 16, 2023, a labor meeting was held in the Company’s training room, attended by company representatives, labor union representatives, and departmental representatives, totaling 59 participants. In addition to reporting on performance of the first half year and plans for the second half of the year, various representatives also provide multiple suggestions, to each of which the company representatives responded. The process was harmonious, with all parties objectively addressing the issues and seeking appropriate solutions.
New Employees Gatherings
On May 19, 2023, a meeting was held for the 135 new employees who reported in the first quarter. Union representatives and the human resources department shared common questions new employees might have and answered their inquiries. The questions raised included overtime, leave, resignation, social insurance, and salary and bonus systems.
On August 26, 2023, a total of 62 new employees who joined in the second quarter were gathered for an orientation. The host presented the seven most common questions new employees have to each group for a quiz competition. Afterwards, representatives from the human resources department or the labor union explained the correct answers. Surprisingly, most of the responses were already very comprehensive.
Minimum Notice Periods Regarding Operational Changes
Eurocharm TW terminates the labor contract in accordance with Article 11 or Article 13 of the Labor Standards Act. The notice period shall be in accordance with the following provisions:
- Where a worker has worked continuously for more than 3 months but less than 1 year, the notice shall be given 10 days in advance.
- Where a worker has worked continuously for more than 1 year but less than three years, the notice shall be given 20 days in advance.
- Where a worker has worked continuously for more than 3 years, the notice shall be given 30 days in advance.
- After receiving the notice, a worker may be absent form work during working hours to find another job. The number of absent hours shall not exceed 2 workdays per week, and during the absence, a worker shall be paid.
There are two types of labor contracts signed by employees at Vietnam VPIC1: fixed-term contracts and indefinite-term contracts. When unilaterally terminating a contract, the initiating party must provide advance notice. The notice period is 30 days for fixed-term contracts and 45 days for indefinite-term contracts.
